Shots4Shots 2016

Tales of the Cocktail and the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic team up for a second year to provide *free flu shots* for service workers, musicians and performers.

Join the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic & Assistance Foundation and Tales of the Cocktail for the second annual Shots4Shots. In an effort to keep everyone who works in local bars, restaurants and clubs healthy, we aim to provide immunizations for up to 200 local cultural workers ahead of the yearly flu season.

Influenza (the flu) can be a serious disease, in some cases leading to hospitalization. This virus is highly contagious and anyone can get sick from the flu, even those who are otherwise healthy.

The problem is compounded for service workers and musicians who rarely have access to paid sick leave (therefore cannot afford to miss a gig or shift because of the flu!), are unlikely to be insured, and yet are at increased risks for contracting the flu due to frequent contact with the public.

With the help of Walgreens, d.b.a New Orleans, and Snug Harbor, we are throwing a huge party with FREE flu shots, live music, pie throwing and fun! 504HealthNet will be on site conducting insurance enrollment and local New Orleans celebrities will take pies in the face to raise awareness for community health care.
