New Orleans musicians come together on Thursday, November 8th at the Hi-Ho Lounge to perform reinterpreted songs by the legendary Seattle band, Nirvana. Proceeds benefit mental health services for patients at the NOMC.
Artists will perform reinterpreted songs, each working with a house ensemble run by guitarist/ composer Tristan Gianola (a Seattle Native himself), to put Nirvana’s lyrics and music under a microscope, as well as contemplating the “grunge sound” and this era of music from the Pacific Northwest.
This is not a tribute or cover show. All artists are using their full range of imagination to reconstruct these songs from their original source according to what they hear in the music and lyrics. Tonight we hope to not simply entertain, but to take risks, experiment and share musical dialogue and critical thinking over Nirvana’s music.
21+ | 9pm | Hi-Ho Lounge (2239 St Claude Ave)
