This was our 4th community blood drive in 3 years the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic and Assistance Foundation has organized. Through these events, we have contributed in total 508 blood units, roughly 1524 blood transfusions.
Deep gratitude to The Blood Center of New Orleans, the staff of the Freret Street Publiq House, and our MC Andrew Ward for their hard work Sunday to ensure everything ran smoothly. Huge thanks to Jeff Cohen at NOLA Misting Systems for the misting fans and Scott Burris of Pure Water Technology for keeping us all hydrated!
And to the dance troupes who came out to boogie down for a purpose: Pussyfooters, Cosmonaughties, Roux La La Cherry Bombs, The Sirens, Muff-A-Lottas, Rolling Elvi’s Jailhouse Rockers, & Camel Toe Lady Steppers.
And to the bands, Jeremy Thomas Quartet and Hot 8 Brass Band, DJ Grinder (Nik Bowie) and DJ Nice Rack (Michelle Currier) who kept the party going. The day’s partners included: Odyssey House New Orleans, the National Alliance for Mental Illness, Magnolia Physical Therapy. Food Sponsors included Dat Dog, Tyler’s Produce, Liberty Cheesesteak, & Domino Pizza.
Thanks to Erica & Vincent Avila and the Elvi’s for putting on the limbo contest! prizes by Pura Vida Massage, High Hat Cafe, and Midway Pizza.
Thank you to our medical volunteers from the Ochsner School of Medicine and to Sagie Henig for his work in organizing this group. Finally, this drive would not have been possible without the hard work of Christina Duggar, fearless leader of the Organ Grinders.
