In 2015, the New Orleans Musicians’ Assistance Foundation (NOMAF) launched the Dancer Wellness Program in partnership with the Tulane Institute of Sports Medicine (TISM) and the Performing Arts Medicine Association (PAMA) to ensure the health and safety of performing dancers and paraders in New Orleans.
NOMAF seeks to provide local performers (especially burlesque dancers, parading dancers, African dancers and marching band members) with preventive health care education through monthly wellness workshops addressing health and injury topics specific to dancer’s needs. Through the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic, we seek to provide specialized care and one-on-one treatments with a dance athletic trainer.
