Voyage des Femme Noires Survivantes

Acadiana Center for the Arts 101 Vermilion St., Lafayette, LA, United States

The ACHA program, an initiative of the New Orleans Musicians Clinic, is dedicated to addressing the critical issue of breast cancer in the African-American community, with a particular focus on Louisiana. Breast cancer is the most common invasive cancer among African American women, often requiring early detection and specialized treatments for survival. On January 11th, a Town Hall event in Acadiana will provide a platform for Black Culture Bearers to share their breast cancer journeys and highlight available cancer resources. The event aims to spotlight the underserved status of Black Culture Bearers in the context of breast cancer diagnosis, treatment, and support. The event's goals are to increase resource information and access to care for under/uninsured culture-bearers, enhance breast cancer support, build community partnerships, implement support through events and education, and share real-life stories. This Town Hall strives to be a catalyst for innovative ideas and collaborations that can bring about meaningful change in the fight against breast cancer among the Culture Bearer community.
